Archery: Mistake Or Best Decision Yet

FOX-Movies-Premium-BraveThe Terrible Twins will continue right after this post. Enjoy!

I’m not sure what I was thinking. I’m not sure why I did it, but I ended up with a bow and arrow. Yep, a bow and arrow. A real one.

I was on a shopping spree with my mom when my dad suggested I buy one. Suddenly, that bow and arrow was all I wanted. I could just picture it- an Allison version of Merida.

So we went to Sport’s Authority, and talked with a guy in the outdoor department. He explained that I was smaller, so I’d have to go with a smaller bow. Picking out two, he then explained why he recommended them.

His last suggestion was that I go home and research the best one. Researching? I thought. No way. But my mom seemed to share a different opinion.

“We can come back,” she reassured me, as we walked away. The urge to buy it kept poking at me. Hmmm….

At last, I dashed back to the rack of weapons, and grabbed my favorite bow. “Mommy, I think I’m gonna get it.” I paused before continuing, “Do you think I should?”

“I think if you like it, you should get it,” she answered with a smile. So, confident it was the right choice, I brought it home.

Last Sunday marked day one of my archery career. I truly did find it entertaining, but of course, was no Merida. I haven’t hit my ladder-with-a piece-of-cardboard target yet, but plan to. And my dreams of being Merida aren’t over yet.

Not yet.

Hello, Allison. That is fabulous that you are taking up archery. Jett and I both want to do that. We have been inspired by fictional characters like Merida and others to, though we are aware we will probably never reach their levels of skill. Tell me when you shoot the middle of your target!

Archery is one of Marilyn Adamsons favorite childhood activities. She still talks about wanting to do it occasionally. Have fun. I like this idea of not just writing stories but of blogging about day to day experiences and about general ideas you are processing. Nice job.

You’ll be hunting bear in no time. Buying the archery set was probably not your best decision yet (this blog may qualify for that!) but I definitely don’t think it was a mistake, either. Love you sweet pea. See you soon.

I love this, Allison! I took up archery for a while in my younger days and I really enjoyed it. I used my brother’s old hunting bow. I hope you love archery! 🙂
